Stella Blackwood always believed her family would be as unbreakable as the stars they were named after. Growing up with her brothers, she was certain they would always stay close, but by her junior year of high school, Stella realized how wrong she was. Her oldest brother, Aster, has run away from their parents' fractured home, and she hasn't spoken to her twin brother, Leo, in years for a reason unknown to her. Her parents, more interested in her potential future model career than her health, see her as little more than a paycheck. With everyone refusing to address the family issues, Stella's home life quickly becomes a battlefield for all.

At school, Stella never accorded much importance to the "rivalry" the school tried to push between the three student houses-Cobalts, Sages, and Maroons-however, fellow school board member and bane of her existence, Jackson Santos, being the captain of her rival soccer team changed things.

Jack knows just how to light her competitive fire from the school board meetings to the soccer field. But as much as Stella loves to hate Jackson, she can't deny that their endless rivalry has long since blurred into a sort of friendship. The once annoying way he would refuse to call her by her name has now evolved into casual nicknames and his once patronizing soccer tips have now become something Stella relies on. Yet still, neither is willing to admit how much they actually need the other.

Amidst all the secrets she keeps from her family issues to her developing feelings for her old rival, Stella also has to hide her hearing aids which has become the shame of the family in her parents' eyes. In only her junior year, Stella already feels like she's drowning. But it's Australia's most elite private school - and all is fair in family and rivalry.
