Jake has a lot happened to him in the past year. His dad died and his mom left him behind to stay with widowed aunt. His aunt isn't any help because she is a drug addict. He takes his life as pretty sucky.
When the town hosts its annual scavenger hunt, he decides to enter. The prize for winning is a getting out a month early from school and an additional $1000 per bonus fining. The Hunt takes place throughout the country and only the smartest will win.
Soon Jake will realize what competition can do to a person.
