When Finn became deadly sick as a baby, Esther begged for Dahlia's help once again. The deal was to give Dahlia her youngest child in exchange for the boy's health. At the time, Esther believed her sister was only joking, and that she would never take her eldest daughter and her still born-to-be child from her. Esther was wrong, as it was soon proved by Dahlia taking Freya, and no matter how hard she tried to prevent it, her youngest child was also taken from her. Nineteen years old Freya has much to say about that, managing to snatch her brother away and to send him to the future, but in her desperation she ended up losing track of where exactly. It was 1847 and the Salvatores had just lost their only son to a harsh cold when a toddler appeared on their doorstep.

A thousand years before Morgana is born, Esther Mikaelson casts a spell to bind her vampire children's souls to a soulmate yet to exist - because apparently, even immortal troublemakers need a little redemption. The spell awakens intense emotions: possessiveness, protectiveness, unwavering love... and a fair amount of confusion. Freya wants to claim and guard, Kol quietly broods, Elijah panics if anyone else even breathes near her, Klaus threatens literal violence at minor annoyances, Rebekah silently shields, Finn patiently waits, and Henrik... well, Henrik just worries a lot. For centuries, they shrug it off, blame it on the vampire diet, and live their chaotic immortal lives. That is, until Morgana finally arrives - and suddenly, centuries of awkward tension, obsessive devotion, and very over-the-top love make sense.
