Tommy loved dogs. he loved cats. he loves animals in general. most people do, and Tommy is no different. he is a simple human boy, doing well in school and talking to his friends, working at a shelter down the road, often coming home covered in fur.
but its not like his father noticed, its not like he was there either. he simply kept taking on more hours of work, and Tommy rarely saw him. but that was okay. he was fine. he didn't need any help from the man who abandoned him. and he didn't need help from his brothers, who left him 10 years ago, never bothering to text or call or even visit.
so why was he going to get his brothers at the airport with his father? hell if he knew.

Tommy is 16 and works at an animal shelter, and Phil basically neglects him and his brothers randomnly decide to come home. and are now trying to take away the one thing that comforts him, which is animals and friends.

Wilbur was surprised that he noticed such a small thing, but he supposed it accounted for the surprise that he had noticed earlier. 'Oh, I prefer Wilbur if that's okay sir. My social worker always forgot to call me Wilbur and I stopped correcting him a while back.' He replied, choosing to ignore the feeling of anxiety at the realisation that was the most he had talked throughout their meeting. 'Alright mate. Oh, and please call me Phil. Sir makes me sound older than I actually am.' OR A fluff to angst to fluff adoption AU where Wilbur Soot gets adopted into the SBI household just before his 18th birthday after years in the foster system. Now, he must learn how to trust his newfound family and find that it's okay to be dependent on others. But after so many years of only relying on only himself, Wilbur struggles to do that.
