Tythia's people have been fighting against the Wild Ones, dangerous creatures who inhabit the planet's forests, for hundreds of years. Being bitten by one is a death sentence-but what happens when you survive?

The world's war against dragons has been going on for generations, but no one knows why they fought. After years of fighting a new species emerged, shapeshifters. They were able to shift between a dragon and human form, making them impossible to find. Everyone referred to them as halflings, half dragon and half human. They were said to have wondrous abilities ranging from an armor like pelt to healing powers. These abilities made them prized creatures and wanted across all lands. Those that were discovered usually ended up as pets or fighters in arena's. After five years of their existence they all went into hiding, fearing what the humans did to those that had been captured. They were taught at a young age to never show what they could do to a human, as it would lead to being caught and possibly killed. There were small sanctuaries in each town, though they appeared to be normal hotels or orphanages. And this is when our story takes place.... Riley was just starting to get comfortable when the WANTED posters started showing up. On a mission to explain to her aunt and cousin why she could never be with them again, Riley discovers that her place in Werecat society runs much deeper than she originally thought. She and her friends must overcome obstacles that could not only cost them their place in the leap, but also their lives.

It was at that that my head tilted slightly, and I bent my chin to my shoulder, my hand again doing what it wanted and pulling the collar away from my neck. Suddenly pain was at my shoulder and teeth were being bit into me!

When I turn the corner I see a boy about 20 and am hit with an overpowering smell something like fresh cut wood and autumn leaves. It is amazing. I see the guy turn towards me and duck behind the house I am standing by before he sees me. Nope! Not him! Not happening! I hear footsteps coming towards me and run. Into the woods I find a pine tree. Perfect! Pine trees are great hiding places. The branches hide you visually and the smell masks your scent. I climb up as quickly as I can and watch the guy approaching. He circles my tree looking around but eventually gives up and goes back towards the houses. "Mate!" My wolf happily purs. "Not him!" I respond. "Denial." She says. "Refusal." I counter and she growls at me. "You will NOT reject him!" She orders. "He is a bully!" "He is mate!" "He commanded that kid when he could have just talked to him! He is a bully with no patience!" "He is an Alpha!" She purrs with pride at his rank. I don't care! "I don't want him!" "The one you want isn't mate. He isn't yours. He isn't interested... I want mate!" "No." I block her out and climb down the tree.

She doesn't even look human, which led to her being thrown out of home at an early age. After accidently killing a person (she closed a lid on a bin that was later emptied with a man inside), she is on the run from everything she has known for most of her life. The people who she has grown up with, who has helped her, are hunting her. They aren't the only ones. A being, one of those who has been imprisoned until being released, wants revenge. It won't stop until it dies, or until those who it hunts is dead. After finding a scent that is different but similar to its own, and to those it hunts, it will search far and near for the owner.
