Tythia's people have been fighting against the Wild Ones, dangerous creatures who inhabit the planet's forests, for hundreds of years. Being bitten by one is a death sentence-but what happens when you survive?
This is a story I wrote and publish a couple years ago, shined up, and published again. Even though the idea's a bit on the rusty side, I'm really happy with how it turned out. It's fun to revisit my previous writing styles,

My breath hitched when he leaned down to whisper in my ear, "your eyes are beautiful." I couldn't understand what I was feeling, like butterflies in my stomach. I felt all happy and giggly inside, it was scaring me. I wasn't suppose to feel this way, I wasn't suppose to feel anything at all. "You look adorable when you blush," he whispered huskily, causing a shiver to run down my spine. He had such a strong effect on me and I didn't like it one bit. He smelled good though, like cinnamon and forest. His nose brushed against my cheek sending shocks. I pushed him away, and suddenly felt cold. A broken family; a terrible curse; a forbidden love. What else could go wrong? Creatures long forgotten have been released. Creatures good... and evil. Creatures seeking revenge. Grizela West (Griz) is definitely not normal. She doesn't even look human, which led to her being thrown out of home at an early age. After accidently killing a person (she closed a lid on a bin that was later emptied with a man inside), she is on the run from everything she has known for most of her life. The people who she has grown up with, who has helped her, are hunting her. They aren't the only ones. A being, one of those who has been imprisoned until being released, wants revenge. It won't stop until it dies, or until those who it hunts is dead. After finding a scent that is different but similar to its own, and to those it hunts, it will search far and near for the owner.Complete
Shapeshifter
The shae are crafty, tricky and sneaky almost like goblins, at least that's how humans see them. They've been discriminated against for years, as their abilities let them take the form of any animal. Living in the streets was their only home, with no jobs and no one wiling to help them. With two kingdoms in an ongoing war, it's hard for shae to leave Locmore at all. Sabella's father was taken from her to be forced to battle in the war leaving her to her own devices. Living in Locmore's capital city, Helanor has taught Sabella where it's safe for a shapeshifter and where it's not. She's content in living her life the way it is, working for meals on merchant day and sleeping in corners where no kingsman can find her. When she gets the push she needs to leave Locmore and start a new life in the neighbouring kingdom she finally realised that she can live a life of freedom, the only question is will she take it? Nivea never planned on coming back. The farmhouse her father left behind-weathered by time, surrounded by wild woods, and drowning in memories-was the last place she wanted to be. Something she couldn't ignore. Armed with a shotgun and the grit of a woman who knows how to stand on her own, Nivea thought she'd be rebuilding her father's house-and maybe her life. But the woods have eyes. And the land holds more than broken fences and faded memories. When a violent storm rolls in, so does he. Ares. Long hair, sun-tanned skin, with a smile as easy as a southern breeze-but eyes that flash with something wild. Something not quite human. A stranger who shouldn't be on her land, yet claims he has nowhere else to run. Other men are coming for him-dangerous men. And there's something about her land keeping them out. But Nivea knows better than to trust a pretty face. She's a hunter by blood-whether she likes it or not. And no matter how close Ares stands, no matter how easy it becomes to let him stay, she can't ignore the question gnawing at her soul: Is she protecting him from the world outside? Ayn is a witch with healing powers. Shapeshifters have killed her parents and the only animals she cannot speak with are wolves. When she graduates from the Teaching Clan and finds out that she has to cross the River and live in the Wolves' Mountains for one year, she is less than amused. Kari, first-born shapeshifter Alpha, almost lost his wolf after the death of his mate. He could rise again and become the pack leader if only he would complete his training ...and find another suitable Luna. When he realizes that his second chance is his mother's guest, a daydreaming stubborn witch from across the River, he is less than amused. The bond may be a strong force, but can a witch walk the Wolves' Way and face the dangers it is paved with? **** "I need to stop..." I sigh, catching her wrist before her fingers reach the back of my neck, and I untangle her arm from me. She lingers on the recliner but now there is a big gap between our bodies. The warmth she left on my skin is quickly dissipating in the spring night. "Fine." Ayn stands and searches my eyes. Her scowl has my wolf whimper in submission and makes me curse my self-imposed hard line. "I am going to need your hoodie," she orders, stretching her hand out to me. "What?" I exclaim, briefly shocked by both the tone and the content of her words. My hands however are already executing her command, unzipping my jacket. "The last time I was able to sleep, I was covered with your hoodie. Your scent is comforting." She states it plainly as if it would be an obvious and broadly known fact. Like the Earth being round. The world didn't matter, it was like we were in a completely bleached room. His eyes bore into mine, unblinking and breathtaking. My hand moved on its own and I touched his chest, my fingers skimming over where his heart pounded in time with mine. Heart Then my fingers glided to his neck. Word and then to his temple Thought and finally, down his chin through the spikes of his facial hair. All the while, our eyes connected. His cobalt color started shifting and gold pierced through. My breath left me in an audible long sound, clearing my lungs. It was at that that my head tilted slightly, and I bent my chin to my shoulder, my hand again doing what it wanted and pulling the collar away from my neck. Suddenly pain was at my shoulder and teeth were being bit into me!Complete

All werewolves have mates. So what happens when you fall for someone before you're 18... "Hopefully hes my mate" is all Markie can think as she waits for her 18th. This is a short story that takes place in the middle of "Orphan Wolf". It can be read independently but will have spoilers if you intend to read "Orphan Wolf"... I of course would suggest you read it and pause at the point I marked to read "Markie" but the choice is yours. Story excerpt "Come on Ryan leave me alone!" A boy yells. "You started it Francis... come on pup don't start that with me... I don't have time for this! GO HOME!" I felt the command. I see the little 8 year old boy from last night run away crying, one of Ruby's cousins. When I turn the corner I see a boy about 20 and am hit with an overpowering smell something like fresh cut wood and autumn leaves. It is amazing. I see the guy turn towards me and duck behind the house I am standing by before he sees me. Nope! Not him! Not happening! I hear footsteps coming towards me and run. Into the woods I find a pine tree. Perfect! Pine trees are great hiding places. The branches hide you visually and the smell masks your scent. I climb up as quickly as I can and watch the guy approaching. He circles my tree looking around but eventually gives up and goes back towards the houses. "Mate!" My wolf happily purs. "Not him!" I respond. "Denial." She says. "Refusal." I counter and she growls at me. "You will NOT reject him!" She orders. "He is a bully!" "He is mate!" "He commanded that kid when he could have just talked to him! He is a bully with no patience!" "He is an Alpha!" She purrs with pride at his rank. I don't care! "I don't want him!" "The one you want isn't mate. He isn't yours. He isn't interested... I want mate!" "No." I block her out and climb down the tree.Complete
