How far would you go for peace? Where the birds chirp in the morning sun, and people travel the world without fear, where there was absolute peace and harmony? Everyone says they want world peace. But how far are they willing to go to get it? The road to ataraxis itself is not a peaceful thing. To first have peace, one must first have war. Elizabeth's life is chaos. The people of Eliatha have rebelled, and the question for her now is will she stand with them, or against them? For the freedom of the people, for peace within the country, or for the way it has always been, law and order within her family? She cannot make this decision alone, so seeks comfort from those few she has by her side. But eventually they have to run; run from all that they had ever known, into a land where there are no familiar faces, and no familiar sights. She has chosen a path that once she has taken the fork in the road, there is no turning back.
