Every five hundred years, a girl goes to sleep to channel the Earth's natural, light magic, and help her society fight off dark magic. Without her slumber, dark creatures such as vampires, werewolves, dark fey, sprites, and witches, would take over the world.

Keela is the sixth Sleeping Girl, and has just awoken to learn that there is no Girl ready to replace her in slumber. If another Girl does not go to sleep within one week, society will be unable to fight off dark magic, and the world will fall to ruin. Led by her glowing mark that signifies who she is, and aided by members of her magical society, Keela must search through a world vastly different from the one she grew up in, battling all sorts of dark creatures to find the next Girl before it's too late.
