This is an in class essay assignment for my english class my junior year. This essay explores the character of Teressa in Grace Stone Coates collection of short stories, "Black Cherries". It is one of my favorite books and a book that made me want to become a writer. I explore how Teressa's experiences and hardships throughout her childhood lead her to become the young woman we see at the end of the book.
