Once upon a time in a quaint little town nestled between rolling hills and lush greenery, there lived a boy named Ethan. Ethan was known for his gentle nature and his penchant for seeing the beauty in everything around him. But despite his cheerful demeanor, Ethan carried a longing in his heart for something he couldn't quite define.

One crisp autumn morning, as Ethan was walking through the town square, his eyes fell upon a girl sitting on a bench. She appeared lost in her own thoughts, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. Curiosity piqued, Ethan approached her cautiously.

"Are you alright?" he asked softly.

The girl looked up, startled, her eyes meeting his. They were pools of sadness, reflecting the pain she harbored within. "I'm fine," she replied, her voice tinged with sorrow.

Ethan wasn't convinced. He sat down beside her, offering a kind smile. "You don't seem fine. What's troubling you?"

The girl hesitated for a moment before pouring out her heart to Ethan. She spoke of lost love, of shattered dreams, and of a heart that felt irreparably broken. Ethan listened intently, his heart aching for the pain she carried.

As days turned into weeks, Ethan found himself drawn to the girl more and more. He spent hours with her, sharing stories, laughter, and moments of quiet companionship. With each passing day, he tried to show her the beauty of love, hoping to mend her broken heart.

A "Beauty and the Beast" retelling. Once upon a time, there was a boy in love with a Lilly. Not a flower, but a girl. It all started one beautiful autumn day. One autumn day that would change the boy's life forever. For on this day, he met Lilly, a beautiful girl with an ugly secret. A secret that threatens to destroy her if she cannot find a way to break the curse forced upon her. Filled with secrets, lies, and love, this short story captures the essence of the original fairy tale with an entirely new twist. ~~~ "Hello, my name is Lilly. What's yours? Is that your mother? I only just came to live here with Ivy, and I don't know many people that come to visit her yet. Do you come often? If you do, we could be friends! Would you like that? To be friends? Why, don't you speak at all? And you should really close your mouth; it is impolite to stare like that." Ivy called out to her from the doorway of the cottage. "Lilly, if you want him to speak, you must first cease speaking." Both of the women were laughing at the children, and Lilly blushed at the comment. "Sorry! I just haven't seen anyone my age yet, and I got excited, which happens rather easily. It reminds me a bit of puppies I've read about that just get so excited that they- oops. I'm doing it again. Sorry," she said with a shy smile. Adam, who had been standing there staring, just as she had pointed out, finally found his voice long enough to tell her his name. She beamed at him, saying that they would be great friends. She seized his hand and began tugging him toward the woods behind the cottage, shouting to Ivy and his mother, "We won't go far! Be back soon!" ~~~

I frowned, thrown off "Do i...remember?" "Do you remember..." she starts but her voice falters. She glances down at the sand, biting her lip debating whether to even continue. She then takes a shaky breath and finally looks up. Eyes locking with mine " do you even remember how you got it?" Her question hits me like a slap. I open my mouth, then close it, my brows furrowing as I force my brain to rewind. How did I get it? Nothing. Not a single clear memory. She steps closer, her voice trembling, but the edge of anger sharpening her words. "Or when? Or where? Or for what reason? Or what it even means?!" I flinch at her tone, but I can't answer her. I try. God, I try.. I look down at the sand beneath my feet, forcing myself to dig through every memory, every hazy night out, every stupid decision I might've made-but nothing. Part 1: Today was supposed to be my fairytale day. My perfect wedding day. I made my way to David, he took my hand in his, walking us closer to the long faced man who would be marrying us. The officiant started, greeting the room full of all my family, all of David's family. Going through the first reading easily. Giving their peace on the joy of marriages, it was bland, but acceptable. Moving along, the officiant announced in a loud voice, "If anyone here knows of any reason why these two should not be lawfully wed, let them speak now, or forever hold their peace." The officiant boomed over the crowd. I was caught off guard. This part was supposed to be just a formality, just a box to tick. No one was supposed to say anything. The world started to go in slow motion as Verity moved behind me a flicker in the corner of my vision. "David, I can't hide anymore." He said. As David's eyes went from me, to Verity, filled with concern. David looked over my head at Verity while he was holding my hands in his. I heard the crowd gasp, before everyone started to whisper. David dropped my hands. The whispers increased in intensity. Making the room sound like it was full of hissing snakes. David's attention wasn't anywhere near me. I looked up to see him looking over my head at my brother. With a look I had thought he had saved just for me, my heart breaking as my fairy tale became a nightmare. Part 2 also complete July 2023.

Olivia and Ethan's story didn't begin with fireworks. It wasn't a whirlwind romance or an earth-shattering moment of fate. Instead, it started with something simple-two souls crossing paths at just the right time. They met years ago in a way neither of them had planned. It was during a travel retreat, a small group of adventurous strangers brought together for an experience that promised to be both unforgettable and fleeting. A week of exploring a foreign city, learning new cultures, sharing laughter over candlelit dinners, and stealing moments in between. Back then, Olivia had been drawn to Ethan's effortless charm-the way he could talk to anyone, the way his laughter filled a room, the way he always seemed to be looking for the next adventure. And Ethan? He admired Olivia's quiet confidence, her love for creativity, and the way she saw beauty in the smallest things. For seven days, they wandered through bustling streets and hidden alleyways, beneath the glow of city lights and along tranquil coastlines. There had been something unspoken between them, something simmering beneath the surface, but life had a cruel sense of timing. As quickly as the week had begun, it ended. No promises were made. No goodbyes were dramatic. They simply parted, believing that if fate had other plans, it would find a way. But fate, as it seemed, had other ideas. Months turned into years. The real world took over-jobs, responsibilities, the distractions of everyday life. They lost touch, caught up in their own separate journeys. And yet, here they were. On a remote island, thousands of miles away from where their story had begun. The moment Olivia saw him, it was as if time folded in on itself. Every unsaid word, every missed opportunity, every "what if" that had ever lingered between them-it all led to this. This moment. A second chance, written in the tides.
