This is an essay for a project in my honors english class sophomore year. In this essay I discuss the ways that the boys in "The Lord of the Flies," Ralph, Piggy, and Jack, justify the murder of Simon. Every single boy played a role in the murder of Simon. The boys each have their own way of approaching the tragedy. While Ralph wants to discuss it and believes it really was murder, Piggy wants to avoid the subject completely, justifies their actions, and makes up excuses. While Piggy is ignorant in a more grown up way, Jack ignores the matters with a childish approach. He makes up stories about Simon's murder saying it was a beast and that they did not kill it.
