Mary was born nothing more than a poor girl, she witnessed the death of her mother being hung when she was found to have a relationship with a pirate, he was nothing more than a beggar turned pirate, this is how her little brother Ace was brought into the world.

After an invasion of her hometown of Eastport Ace and Mary are found by a crew of pirates known for treachery against the king, Mary is raised as a thief and Ace as a swordsman under the eye of the pirates.
