Clarice Nymeria "When destiny brings you purpose, you don't get to walk away. You were meant for this, born for this. This is why Queen Amate gave her life - so you could live and fulfill yours. You cannot turn back now... the universe won't let you," Adja said firmly. I sat there, blood-soaked and tired, the stench of death still fresh around me. The pests I'd just killed lay scattered, twitching in their last moments. Adja's voice grated against the ringing in my ears. I knew what she was doing - trying to anchor me with guilt, trap me in the weight of a queen's sacrifice. But not this time. She's wrong. I will do what needs to be done - not what she wants me to do. --- Devlan Lucifer Knight "You are the Demon King, Devlan. One of the most powerful beings ever to walk the realms. People fear you - for what you are, and what you might become. This is not the time to disappear. Your people need you," my mother said, her voice clipped with authority. "Whatever's going on with you, fix it. Clean yourself up - you reek of blood and rotting corpses." She turned on her heel and walked out like she always does - cold, composed, unreachable. I didn't expect anything more from her. But she doesn't understand. Not this time. There's more happening than she knows. And I will do what must be done - not what she commands of me.

"How could you... last night... I was helpless! You are the one who molested me! And you dare do it again now!" she huffed. Khail wasn't affected with her crying. "Yes, I dare. You are just too sweet not to be tasted." His statement rang deep in the back of her mind. These were the words of an insensitive, cold-hearted demon. No more, no less. He was lusting on her --yes he was-- and that was the rightful particular emotion of choice. "I said don't come any closer!" she cried again when she noticed him inching more towards her. "I will stab you! I swear I will stab you demon or not!!!" she threatened, but it was only gibberish talk for Khail. "Nonsense Selene. Stab me if you want," he urged and this surprised her greatly. He continued to close in on her and this time, Selene didn't hesitate plunging the knife into his chest. ~ S ~ Easy for Supernaturals to live their life in what everybody calls 'forever'. That is easy for angels yes, but for demons, it is most likely a damnation of boredom. And that -- is the truth. However, how much more would it be for a demon who has a unique power to wield time and space? What is HE to do with such an unlimited lifetime then? ~ S ~ So this is a 5-part short story about Khronus and Selene that is stand alone but still connects to my book, SANCTUM.
