"Hold it." He gripped her wrist tightly in his calloused hand, forcing her to look at him. Tears pricked at her eyes as she stared into his stern ones. His heart shattered at the sight. He wouldn't allow himself to cry; not here, not yet. In a second, he pulled her close. With her head on his chest, she listened closely to the sound of his rapid heart beat.

"We do this together. I'm not losing you here. Stay close to me and for the love of god, don't fucking do anything reckless." He pleaded. She didn't respond, for she couldn't. She let her tears fall to his chest, and he tightened his grip around her, pulling her even closer into him. And in that moment, it seemed as if the world went still. An omen; just for a second, just for them.
