This is a collection of short-stories and flash-fiction. Each narrative is complete and independent, and can be read in any order. Although varying in length, they are all relatively short, to present a quick and fun read, while you're on the go. Each one presents a view, theme, or idea to entertain as well as provoke your imagination and critical thinking. The characters are varied and as confused about the ever evolving modern world as the rest of us.

They include tales of cyborgs, alien worlds, alternate futures, supernatural transformations, and the spiritual crises and transitions new technologies will demand of our soul. The characters include space nomads, time-traveling detectives, artificial consciousness, and ordinary people grappling with rapid and uncontrollable change.

Far, far, FAR, into the future, and I mean, like really far into the future; some stuff happened. The world ended, but that was a long time ago (don't worry about it). Humanity had no choice but to flee into space and then we came face to face with the same age-old issue: how are we going to pay rent this month? I was literally about to sell my organs, but then I discovered a better solution: crime. Time travel somehow got involved in the mix, honestly, I'm a bit foggy on the details. Time travel's complicated, okay?! It all started with this guy Robert. He messed up at work. And I mean, he really messed up. Normally you'd just get fired, but he knew too much. He didn't just need to disappear, he needed to be erased. That's where I come in. Me and Ronnie were gonna kill him, but like, consensually. I know that doesn't make a lot of sense, but it will. Bear with me. We did it, alright-it was easy. Whoops, spoilers. It was everything that happened after that that really threw us for a loop I got stuck and I couldn't get unstuck. I forgot a lot of things and it took a long time for me to remember, but then I forgot and it happened all over again. And again. And again. And again. I told you time travel is a mess.

This city is a mess. First of all, the police are hilariously unsuccessful in arresting a highly criminal nightclub owner. The media are ensuring everyone knows, resulting in city-wide romanization of crime. Second of all, the city's star detective is currently struggling to understand why that nightclub owner- a certifiable genius with a record-breaking intelligence score- chose the criminal lifestyle over, say, being a NASA engineer. And that brilliant criminal's boyfriend is equally confused over why she consistently takes unnecessary risks. This spiderweb of crime has been spun so far that even that detective's ex-fiancé, a bumbling idiot who also has custody over his daughter, is getting involved. So is that bartender who works for that criminal, and so is that detective's boss. And while all that happens, another criminal- most definitely not a certifiable genius- is ready to rip the spiderweb apart. In truth, it doesn't matter what they say about you while you're still here. On each side of the box, both inside and out, a new world reveals itself to him: He experiences another man's worst day of luck. An old, dying man befriends an alien creature and shares an inexplicable bond. A unique blanket helps a young woman in a time of crisis. Another man's grief of losing his dying wife is tempered by a ghostly haunting. The first manned mission to Mars reveals a personal past for one colonist. An Indian Brave concludes a ritual as a rite of passage to adulthood. The end of the world brings a woman and her ailing father together for the last time. A man has an opportunity to right one wrong from his past and realizes the true meaning of regret. Another man's senses are replaced one by one with something alien. A golfer in the aftermath of the apocalypse sets out on a quest to keep the game he loves alive. A conversation between two sides of one man's psyche reveals something in us all. A snowbound woman holds the fate of the world literally in her hands. The histories lurking there aren't the ones we read about in history books and some of them are infected with the future. The underworld is full of high-tech gangsters, artificial super-intelligences, and witchcraft wielding criminals spreading rumors and illusions. Rumors of a time-machine underground where the past and future collide. William is determined to bring order to this dark chaos growing beneath the city. With the help of Samantha, a young citizen journalist, and a mysterious spiritual teacher somehow linked with his own personal past, he hopes to try and control whatever this unseen thing is before it is too late.
