2024. A year of work, hardships, school, job interviews - and of course, much, much more. All of us have different lives after all.
Once you take a step outside your door, you see people bustling in our modern society, walking and running from building to building. Some people casually taking a stroll, having their morning sip of coffee, walking their dogs, or even scrolling through reddit while walking across a pedestrian street (he just hit his head on a lamp post, but let's not worry about that).
One thing to worry about, however, is (even though it's quite random) one thing. Well, it IS the thing. The fact that nothing's happening with our modern society. To be more specific, the fact that it might just stay like this forever. Artificial intelligence might be able to push us another step further, to continue evolving as one whole species. But, if you think about it, we can't just stay as it is right now. You've probably already noticed the numerous articles that have been popping up in Google about different issues, whether it be disturbances in food production, and stuff I'm too lazy to talk about.
2371. The estimated year of Earth entering its Type I civilization state. Well, fortunately for us, we've already attained Type II. Pretty amazing, right? Almost everything's changed now (other than my habit of downing some raw noodles every now and then).
Big time skip? Yeah, well, let's get a change of perspective.
The paragraph above me is all about my dad's yapping when he was still in his prime days. I don't really care about that. What I DO care about though, is all his cool shit just lounging around his lab. Shiny stuff, circular stuff, mostly white, mostly embedded with NASA logos...
Ooooo, but what's that usb? That's pretty big. I'll just uh...
Yup. That wasn't a good idea.

Sometimes love is the strongest magic of all
***
Nineteen-year-old Rhia Greenbrook has lived in the sleepy town of Oakriver in a house with three generations of witches her entire life. Rhia draws her magic from the earth and likes to spend her time amongst plants and nature. Her practice is gentle, sacred, and-per her family's tradition-secret.
New-to-town witch Valerie Morgan is looking for answers about her mother's disappearance from Oakriver seventeen years ago. Without her mother's guidance, Valerie has cultivated her fire magic on her own and she makes no effort to keep her powers hidden. Although Rhia is immediately annoyed by Valerie's blatant use of magic, she can't deny the instant magnetism between them.
But amidst their magical connection, a dark presence looms over Oakriver. Unsettling visions from Rhia's grandmother and dangerous sleepwalking episodes throw into question Valerie's past and what role her presence plays in the strange happenings. And as Valerie gets tangled up further into the darkness, it's up to Rhia to tap into the full potential of her power in order to save the town she loves and the girl she's fallen for.
