At the end of June 1991, Severus Snape made the hardest choice of his life: letting the woman he loves, Evelyne Leigh, flee to the Archeans to escape the French Ministry. They promised each other they would reunite.
But the promise he made to Dumbledore years earlier is about to catch up with him.
Harry Potter crosses the threshold of Hogwarts, bringing with him the ghosts of the past, Lily's eyes, and James's arrogance. As the Philosopher's Stone draws greedy eyes and a dark threat lurks in the castle corridors, Severus must play his part to perfection. The tyrannical professor, loathed by all, hides the man pulling the strings from the shadows.
