Nick is recovering from a traumatic brain injury. While on a boat, he gets struck by the forces of Nature (lightning) and falls off the boat (presumably); hitting his head and causing amnesia. Nick's few memories don't involve many people, except for a reassuring name: Dahlia. 

Nick wants to find her; she's the only one who can fill in the missing pieces of his life. While on his search, he comes across more and more memories of the lovely girl with the gorgeous name. But as time passes on, Nick wonders if he'll ever be able to find her, especially with only his handful of vague memories. 

But persistence wins and Nick continues to search; falling more and more in love with Dahlia, even as the odds of finding her get slimmer and slimmer.
