Big showdowns bronze medallist B Sai Praneeth on Monday (11) declared his retirement from worldwide badminton, cutting down the shade on an effective profession during which he won the Singapore Open and furthermore addressed India at the Tokyo Olympics.

The 31-year-old from Hyderabad chose to hang up his boots in the wake of engaging pestering wounds since the Tokyo Games.

"With a blend of feelings, I pen down these words to say goodbye and declare my retirement from the game that has been my backbone for more than 24 years," he posted on his Instagram account.

"Today, as I set out on another section, I wound up wrecked with appreciation for the excursion that brought me here.

"Badminton, you have been my most memorable love, my dependable friend, molding my personality and providing motivation to my reality. The recollections we've shared, the difficulties we've survived, will be forever carved in my heart."

Praneeth is set to join as a lead trainer of Triangle Badminton Foundation in USA one month from now.

"I will participate in mid-April. I will be the lead trainer of the club, so I will supervise every one of the players there. Obviously, when I'm there, we will examine the job," he told PTI.
