"Shinichi Kudo, a high school detective, was spending a day at a tropical land with his childhood friend, Ran, when he noticed an extremely suspicious man dressed in black. Shinichi followed them and he witnessed an illegal transaction conducted by these men in black. Completely focused on recording their activities, Shinichi didn't notice that one of the men in black's acquaintances snuck up behind him and hit him with a metal pole. The men in black then forced him to drink a certain drug that was supposed to kill him without leaving any trace. However, instead of killing him, the drug transformed him into a cat.
