Book One | The Morningstar Duology.

Set in nostalgic 2010, in a world not too different from the one you know-except creatures of myth and lore are real!

Mortals and Mythicals alike are gripped by the biggest race war ever; enter Warren Howard, Overseer of The Compound, a safe haven for Mythicals buried in Montana's wilderness.
Keeping the peace and performing his duties keep his hands full and his schedule packed, but when Karou Morgan, a young woman spirited away from home by dubious forces, unexpectedly reappears in his life, his world turns upside down.

Forced together, they traverse their complex situation while tensions between them rise and both their worst and best natures are challenged. Truths come clean, and the pair form a unique and everlasting bond.

An unknown voice whispered into his ears, insidious and taunting. "You lost her. She belongs to someone else. She is not going to return," it hissed with a venom that seeped into the cracks of his resolve. "No, I will never let this happen." "She is mine. Mine to own, mine to love, even mine to hate-mine and mine alone," he yelled. The bottle of expensive liquor became a casualty of his turmoil, shattering into a million pieces as he hurled it across the room. "It's okay; nothing is lost yet," he comforted himself. "James said they are not married yet, so there is still time to rectify this mistake." he reassured himself. "Mr. Smith has asked you to come to his room," the maid informed her.. She attempted to explain, "I was just going to put my stuff in my room...," but the guard promptly interrupted her, "You can leave it with her; she will have it delivered to your room." "Close the door," he ordered as soon as she entered his room. "I said close the door," he yelled, causing her to flinch. Nervously complying, she closed the door behind her. "Sit down," he instructed, not calm but attempting to maintain composure in her presence. "It's okay. I'm fine like this. Why did you want to see me?" she asked as if she didn't know, still standing near the door. "Why do I have to tell you everything twice? Sit down or I'll make you sit down myself," he threatened. Obediently, she sat down on the edge of the bed, keeping a distance from him. "Not there, sit here," he gestured to the ottoman in front of him, patting it a few times. All rights reserved.
