Freya: The Price of power

"Give me a day and I will bring you your money." My heart was beating fast, and it felt like it was about to jump out of my chest, but I did not mind. I needed to clear my father's name and send him off properly.

"You sure do have some nerves," she laughed. "So because your father is dead and you have no one else we can turn to, you think you can suddenly run away? Don't be stupid, darling, I won't let that happen."

"My father's body is in your possession, I can't run."

"I don't care about your father's body, all I care about is my money!" She glared at me.

The echoes of approaching feet got closer and my heart stood still as Darius moved his eyes between his mother and me.

"Twenty-four hours, that is all you get to either refund the money or face the cruellest fate, ever."
