On the way, they pick up some friends who are becoming suspicious with recent events. Shadow: Awakening
This fan fiction will go into detail about Shadow's complicated past, and will start with his creation on the ARK. Shadow is battling memories, mind-control, and struggling to find his true identity. Is he a Hero? A Villain? A Mercenary who cares for nothing but self gain? Or will he withhold nothing in his quest for revenge? He must discover who he truly is, and in the process, unearth the truth behind Maria's TRUE last request. I portray Shadow as a character who is torn between personalities. SONIC 3 SPOILERS "What's going on?" Maria asked. "I don't know," Shadow replied, getting off the bed and walking to the door. After hesitating, Shadow opened the door and followed the sounds down the hallway to the main entrance. There were bolts of blue lighting dancing across the room, and guards went down left and right by something too fast for anyone to see. The guards fired into the room, panicked, but the blue blur of lighting was relentless and soon no one was left standing. Shadow stood at the edge of the room, eyes and mouth agape as the blue blur finally stood still, standing over the unconscious guards. It was a hedgehog! It looked like- "Shadow," Maria breathed out, appearing beside Shadow. "He looks just like you."

As you go along, the characterisation gets better and better, and though I don't want to claim that they act perfectly canon, I think they're pretty accurate :) The cover is drawn by me!
