Silence

Thump. Thump. Thump. Thump.
Thats all she could hear as the blood was pumping to her ears heart bursting from her chest.
The sound of twigs snapping and leaves crunching under her feet and she carried herself away-running.
The distant snarls and screams of her loved ones being attacked.
"Hurry up Ari! This way!" Her brother urged her, not looking back.
Thump. Thump. Thump. Thump. It continued.
Her foot getting caught on a root, she falls to the ground. Her brother still running she gets up and runs to catch up, but its dark and unknown to her she heads in a completely different direction.
She came to a clearing ducking down in the tall grass as much as she could, listening to the song the crickets sang and the pounding in her chest, deep breaths and then..... Silence.
