Abject • The root word- ("away") + jacere ("to throw") • From Latin abjectus, past participle of abicere, meaning "to cast away" or "to throw down." The adjective "abject" describes something experienced or present to the maximum degree of misery, hopelessness, humiliation, or wretchedness. It often refers to a situation, condition, or state that is extremely bad or degrading. ° ° ° Arisa Kuroha was never one to judge. To hate. Never once had she gazed upon someone with an eye of indignation. She was rather fond of the little strange things----the odd, the overlooked, the ones the world turned away from. So when she found a boy scorned and shut out by society for his mere looks, she could not help but reach out, drawn to discover the ugly beauty within.
