Vivienne Rousseau is a teenage hoping for freedom in her life. When the opportunity presents itself, she chooses to run away from a strict home and live the way she wants.

Jocelyn Pritchard is a household name amongst those in England's high society. As their "friend" she gets close only to swipe a fortune from them. For the life she is living is a lie. A professional con artist, Jocelyn swindles money, jewels, and whatever else she can. But when she is caught, she's forced to make a deal with the British government.

As a serious threat to Parliament looms, Jocelyn must work with an MI5 agent, Ernest Scott. While they grow to know one another, other feelings begin to blossom. But soon, Jocelyn's past catches up with her. Whether or not she can escape it depends on her own strength of mind and the support of those she can trust.
