The concept of sins has its origine in Religion.

Because of this, most people attribute it to mental or spiritual causes : psychopathie, demon possession, trauma, corruption, the conséquences of a difficult life or simply mind depravity.

But for Izuku Midoryia, it was none of that. For him, sins are the symptoms of the most ancient and terrible disease, "the great pestilence". From the very moment he could understand the world and was later explained his quirk, he knew that he was born to purge humanity of it.
