I have a short story from my book 'What Darkens The Hour' to share.

Inspired by Molly Malone, it's a retelling of The Faithful Watchmen by the Grimm brothers.

Timothy would play his violin for Molly daily, positioning himself where he knew she would pass. One day she drank from the murky water contaminated by cholera, and his worry soon turned to dread when he didn't see her or her cart.
