The Maw is no place for children. It has a way of drawing creatures toward it; those who eat, those who are eaten, and everything in between.

     The Maw, by accident, is exactly where Six and Mono end up.

     Six didn't want to save Mono, but she did.

     She knows what he becomes. She knows how stupid it was that she saved him. But she couldn't just leave him to die. As soon as they're out of the Pale City, she plans to run away from him.

     The screens have other ideas.

     When Six and Mono are forced to travel through a television, there's a glitch. Although separated by different signals, they're sent to the same place - the Maw, a feeding ground stranded in the ocean. Mono, thrown into seemingly-peaceful rooms, wants to find his way back to Six and escape with her. Six, lost in the darkest depths of the ship, wishes to escape by herself; seeing all others as a threat.

     It's not simply a fight against the outside world anymore. Without each other to lean on, with danger brewing, with darkness found inside and out...the two may not make it out alive.

     One thing is certain.

     Nightmares don't have happy endings.

He smiled warmly up at her, tears spilling over. "I'm sorry," he choked out, and he really was. The last thing he wanted was to leave Six all by herself. He knew loneliness all too well. But at least, this way, she would be able to live her life, far away from the cruelties that threatened them every minute as they had gotten closer to the Signal Tower. After the Signal Man had taken her, he devoted himself to getting her back no matter the cost. There was no price too big to pay. He would give up everything for her. Alternatively: If given the choice, Mono would totally sacrifice himself to save Six, if the circumstances were set up that way. Basically, the ending of Little Nightmares 2, but slightly different. The real ending broke me, and was nothing but angst, so here's angst with a happy ending. Beware of spoilers. Also, the mass of flesh and eyeballs is officially called the Squirming Abyss, so I will be referring to it as such.

But after encountering his younger self, Mono realizes that he's not quite ready to give up and is determined to find the Six that betrayed him from his timeline. Intent on revenge, he travels the Maw where he meets another boy named Seven, who was eaten by Six. Both are ready to confront the one who hurt them, but what if that ends up being harder than they expected? And not only that, but what if the Raincoat Girl survived the fall back at the Nest, and what if she and Six found each other again? A story based on revenge ends up being an adventure full of hard decisions, new friends, and uncaging the truth about what happened to their world. Mono never thought he'd work together with Six again, but will a new threat, the "Happy Man", change his mind and force the four characters to team up? Or will grudges and past traumas turn their lives into a nightmare? Characters are all 19 except for Six who is 18. In the world they live in, people live for a very long time, up to 120 years and such, so 18-19 is still considered a "kid" for them. They are mature like normal people of that age, but they also have some childish tendencies and can still act kiddy. You'll see that with lots of the dialogue. With no way of transportation, they take any rescue that they can and find themselves yet again running and fighting for their lives against a new set of monsters in a brand new environment. And let's just say, they might encounter another companion along the way.
