A poetic tale about a messenger sent from southern scandinavia to beg the legendary Wolven warriors, the Ulfhednar, to liberate the folk from the evergrowing Holy Roman Empire.

Note:
* In the case of the non-Roman influenced peoples, they speak strictly germanic english (e.g. battle - hild; choice - kyre; ellenmearth - valour or courage); this is done for poetic purposes and to draw a clear distinction between the Roman and common tongue. In some cases, a Scandinavian word may be used (e.g. strid - fiight or battle; mark - land). This story also makes use of the Scandinavian, archaic, or Northern English plural -er in some cases (e.g. hander - hands; freeker - heroic men). The grammar is archaic though should be recognizable (-eth ending for third person, -est for second person, -en for plural) (e.g. He fighteth; You fightest; They fighten).

The Damaged Soul What does it mean to have honor? That is something I have asked myself my whole life. My name is Bothvar; I am the son of Earl Beorcol, and this is my story. Some think honor is to die in battle, while others think honor is to kill in battle. My brother Thorkel surely thought those things. Maybe that's why he did what he did. I'll never know. Others think honor is to serve. To serve our leaders or people. To serve the greater good. Or simply serve our family and loved ones. That surely seems noble, does it not? My father surely thinks so. He's given his life to serve all of those things. Many think honor is something you earn, not something you're born with or given. It's carved from hard work. Forged in the fires of battle and hardened by pain. This is what I once thought. I spent many days and nights tempering my strength, hardening my body, and forging my will. I thought honor came from the edge of a blade. I sacrificed it all to earn it and it cost me nearly everything, leaving my heart and soul broken. And yet, I still do not know what it means to have honor. Join me, and together we might discover the truth. Together we might earn honor. And maybe then, I can finally find peace and be reunited with my loved ones. The Damaged Soul is a small prequel book of the Broken Souls in the Seasons of the Cycle series. It's also included in the Broken Souls novel along with the Bound Soul, Lura's story. The Series is a Dark Fantasy with a bit of romance. It's inspired by Viking culture, but it is in no way an accurate portrayal of historical Viking culture. It takes place within a fantasy world that's heavily influenced by ancient mythology and lore of many different cultures among other things. That being said, this book contains some pretty graphic and controversial topics such as slavery, sexual assault, death, war, violence, blood, mental health, drug addiction, and many other controversial topics.
Word of Trolls book 1 - Trollbound ch. 1-3 by WordHunter
1 part Complete
The Word of Trolls is a fantasy series, broken into three parts, that draws its inspiration from the Norse folklores, with trolls, draugs, the hulder and the northern lights all playing their vital part. It is a story that explores human's close relation with nature, setting them up as two opposing forces. Which side will win in the end? At the centre of the world stands the enormous mountain Várri, the only true mountain in the land, and said to be the Trolls' final resting place. For centuries, a hulder, a woman with a tail, has preserved the balance in nature, but one day a boy of 17 finds a hidden tunnel that leads to this woman. The woman claims he has the gift to give life to baby trolls. He is appalled by the idea, yet soon becomes a father to a baby troll. On top of Várri, in Snowfall, the Kvínnús chooses their men, and the tribe is led by a Trollkvínnú (spiritual leader). Trollkvínnús has the ability to see the future within the northern lights. Kvínnú Áila (15), a strong-willed girl, is at 16 destined to become the tribe's next Trollkvínnú, after her mother. The king of the lands below the mountain however, wants her as the land's princess. Stolen at birth, Tiril Stone (17) was brought to Cod Tongue by her uncle. All her life she has breathed fog and had difficulties finding balance on land. Life on the small fishing island is brutal. Tiril is forced to take up the oars in order to pay for her family's debt. Out at sea, she realises she can attract fish by touching the water, but using her abilities also builds up a storm. She comes close to drowning but is saved by a draug, sailing in his half-boat.

[The Iceland Saga] (Story Introduction) The darkness of the night fades as the pale moonlight dips behind thick clouds. But what comes isn't dawn, but the beginning of a new day in an era ruled by swords and blood. We are in the 11th century, where no sound rises above the clash of swords and the battle cries of warriors, in a time when the sword was the measure of power, and life was an endless struggle. In the heart of Iceland, a harsh land that seems like a prisoner between its rocky mountains and dense forests, the whiteness of the ice stretches like a shroud that envelops life. A biting cold gnaws at the bodies, and violent winds tear through everything. But in the midst of this desolate ice, there is a fire that never dies... A fire from the depths of the dark forests, where war cries echo, ripping through the stillness of the night, heralding the storm's approach. They are the "Viberian", warriors who know no mercy, raised on battle, living on the edge of death. With eyes glowing like ember sparks, and swords dripping with blood, they instill fear even in the hearts of hungry beasts. When the swords clash, all that can be heard are the cries of pain, and the ringing of steel sends a spark of warmth into this icy hell, where there is no room for the weak, and no law but the survival of the fittest. The winds howl, and the sound of battle echoes through the mountains. Do you hear it? It's the sound of the battle drawing closer, heavy steps approaching your world, hot breath preceding the edges of swords. Do you dare face the Viberian? Or has fear already begun to creep into your bones? This is not just a story, but an epic etched in the ice of Iceland... where the fury of nature collides with the violence of men, and where heroes are born or buried in the snow. The only question is: Do you have the courage to complete the journey?
