When the Earth's population grows close to a trillion, there isn't space for all those people anymore. The only way humanity can continue is putting most of the people into a virtual world. Unfortunately, due to predatory pricing and hidden micropayments, keeping up with their subscription can be a problem for a lot of people.

Bock is a mink, which is a problem because they're a closed species; and if he can't keep up with the monthly payments he might have to go offline. But maybe he can find a glitch in the system; a way to keep his body without paying out so much for it. What could possibly go wrong?

Grammar issues are present, particularly missing commas.) What do you do when you are one of the infected? The virus in my blood is trying to steal my humanity. It alters my very thoughts and reactions. It taunts me by tempting me with desires that it planted in my brain. These bloodthirsty desires would lead to my demise if I ever gave in. I have more in common with the zombies than with humans at this point. Even the fallen zombies accept me as one of their own. Blood is required to retain my grip on sanity, but the sweet-smelling blood from humans is a short path to madness. Human blood is to be avoided at all costs. Humankind around the world was driven close to extinction by the sudden appearance of the zombies, yet small groups of survivors constantly manage to appear and put my control to the test. -------------------------- This is a standalone zombie book. It has nothing to do with A Different Virus. I wanted to try a book with an easily irritated main character and a nutcase secondary character. This book has a slightly darker outlook at the beginning than my usual stories, but it has some humor further along. Kate is a small, shy girl who's starting college after barely graduating high school. She didn't want to go to college initially because she didn't feel like she could handle it, both academically and mentally. However, when her one and only friend Megan decided to go with her, Kate agreed. The small girl has anxiety issues due to being bullied for her childish appearance and behavior. Kate was born with permanent incontinence, making her have to wear diapers her whole life, something she was bullied for in school. It also didn't help things that she had a growth hormone deficiency, causing her to stop growing at only 4'5 tall. The bullying was only exaggerated further due to her childish mannerisms, always carrying around a stuffed animal and drinking out of sippy cups. The onset of her first college semester caused her anxiety to skyrocket to new levels, which in turn, caused her to become even more childish. Megan, Kate's only friend, was a 6'1 tall girl who had great grades through all of school, taking all advanced classes in high school and entering college with a year's worth of credits already. Her much better grades caused her to be in different classes than Kate through all of high school, but Megan used her status as the smartest student in her class to choose her schedule so that she always had lunches and study halls with Kate. The two girls became friends all the way back in kindergarten. Even back then, Megan was the smart one. She realized that Kate always needed extra help with work and would go into the teacher's office with the teacher for diaper changes. Megan felt bad for the poor girl, having stopped wearing any kind of protective underwear herself soon after she turned 2. So Megan introduced herself to Kate and they quickly became friends, Kate becoming clingy even towards Megan. How will Kate's first semester of college go? Will she be able to handle it, or will she end up flunking out or dropping out?

There's not a lot that can freak me out in this world. Only large animals with sharp claws, too many people touching me, bullies, hives, horror movies, sitting underneath fans or lights or anything that dangles from a ceiling, glass or wooden bridges, my mother, mosquitoes, public situations, taking a shower with nobody in the house, taking a shower with too many people in the house and crocks. Oh, and zombies. Zombies is definitely on that list. It's almost a shame too, that I have to race through a city packed full of them to find my missing family. Packed full of zombies, by the way, not crocks. (Although I don't know which situation is worse.) Now I have to not only keep my feeble body alive, but also protect (or be protected by) my two best friends in the entire world as we all try to survive in a city packed with the Dead.
