Sixteen-year-old Ivory lives as normal and as quiet of a life as possible in Sector One of the newly established Americas – a place formerly known as America, but was divided into three equal Sectors due to the outbursts and rebellious acts of the generation before Ivory’s. Due to the increasing population of the other sectors, Sector One is forced to downsize so Ivory and her mother were relocated to a place named Vanis. In Vanis the minimal expectation is perfection and any imperfection or mistake seen before you are allowed entry is punishable by your disapproval of entry as well as a potential for you to be put to sleep until Vanis officials feel you deserve to be allowed entry. If any imperfection or mistake is seen after you are allowed entry you are punished by a Condemning Ceremony – a daily ceremony held to kill off any imperfect being for Vanis Officials fear of the person spreading their infectious behavior. During Ivory’s stay she was asked to take part in a draft to help reconstruct Vanis’ protective wall along with others. During her time away her mother was Condemned for unannounced reasons. Ivory began to spiral into frenzy and she was looked at by Vanis officials as a problem – therefore she is to be condemned. But just in the nick of time, minutes before Ivory’s condemning, President Robert Krimmley – Sector One’s President – summoned Ivory to his offices and her condemning was postponed. Upon arrival to the presidential offices Ivory was asked to be a director on the behalf of the president in his plot to eradicate the other Sectors and reunite the United States. And she agrees But in part of her agreeing to help President Krimmley. she finds herself in situations that involve her killing her love interest as well as very close friends. But by the time she comes to her senses it is already too late for her to back out and she is stuck being director, but she must find a way out – even if it means she has to return to the plac
