In 2030, after Rachel's astronaut husband returns from an 8-month mission, the two struggle to overcome their past rash decisions and try to save their marriage through therapy. Infinite, my domestic drama novel, is told from two first person points of view. When Rachel's husband Lucas, a 27-year-old astronaut, returns from his mission to the international Space Station in November 2029, she attends couples counseling with him. Lucas, hiding an alcohol addiction, had volunteered for the mission without telling Rachel or saying goodbye; he wanted to use the time to improve himself and be worthy of her. Rachel, assuming she's been abandoned, had a whirlwind romance with a Southern Prince Charming named Sam at an educational conference. Rachel's heart was tormented, being pulled into different directions. Sam restored her confidence, but she chose to try and salvage her marriage with Lucas. Rachel and Lucas reveal what they were up to during the eight-month gap through vivid flashbacks and storytelling in both their therapy sessions and in private conversations. They begin to repair the damage that was done, but when Sam ends up transferring to the school where Rachel teaches, Rachel's fraught marriage faces a final test. This fictional story is told from the lens of both Rachel and Lucas as they attend marriage counseling sessions with Dr. Wilson. Through vivid flashbacks and support in therapy, Rachel and Lucas are forced to confront the issues in their marriage and deal with both new and old trauma. Can they let go of past mistakes and find their way back to each other? Completed, but still editing!
