It has been 375 days since Grandmother gave me a brooch and a tiara as her parting gift from the world. And today is the first day they're both missing.
My sister scoffs. "Don't be angry?! You lost the two pieces of the royal collection. How could we not be angry with you!" Okay I'm usually not an angry person but she is making me seriously want to bring out my inner assassin.
Her eyes flare, she steps up to me and slaps me straight across my face. "How dare you speak to me like that! I'm the next Queen, my blood will be on the throne while yours will wither away as years go by. You know, mother or I can take those jewels away in a second. You better start showing me some respect or else."
