Matilda 'Tilly' Gilmore was 15 when her and her older sister Rory were accepted into Chilton. Lorelai Gilmore the girls mother couldn't afford the tuition on her own so she asked her parents for help which they gladly did. On their first day Matilda kept getting stared at. She found out that it was because she looked a lot like Mitchum Huntzberger. Once Lorelai hears that her daughter was being stared at she gave her parents Emily and Richard permission to announce her youngest daughter's parents.
