Xavier Blackwood is given a mission from the Court to hunt down one of the deadliest vampires that they have ever had to deal with in the time of the 4 clans. The court chose Xavier for the job because he is one of the top hunters in the 4 clans.

The Blackwood's, The Slade's, The Kane's, and The Stryker's are the four founding family's of the vampire hunting court. 

He gets the papers for his mission and heads to the place where the vampire, Valentina Winter, had been most spotted in the last 10 years.
When he gets there he is surprised at what he finds.
