Katsuki's life should have improved after the UA took custody of him to protect him from his abusive parents. His life should have been easier when people realised that he wasn't trying to be an asshole it was just all he knew. His life should have been better when he finally managed to solidify his friendships with every single member of class 1-a.

Instead, Katsuki is suffering. He has no surname anymore, no hero name, but being addressed as Katsuki feels wrong from anyone, but Aizawa and Hizashi. He finds it hard to socialise with others despite his friendships, though others seem to understand. 

It's his mind that's really getting to him, though. It drags him further down every day. Every time Lightening Rod makes a joke about him being a villain, it affects him. Every time someone asks him about being kidnapped, it affects him. Every time someone brings up that he had failed to get his provisional licence, it affects him. Every time one of the others starts talking about their parents, it affects him. Every time Deku is better than him. Every time All Might is near him. Every time Midnight is near him. Every time anyone brings up his victory at the sports festival.

And so, in the way that he was taught since childhood, Katsuki hides himself away for protection and puts a brave face on.

He didn't count on anyone caring enough to notice. And he definitely didn't count on how drastically his life changed after they did.

This shocked the family and they were willing to hear him out and see his change. Touya Todoroki aka Dabi is an undercover hero for the hero commission in this AU. The family is aware of him being an underground hero. Dabi did it as a form of protest against his father since he wanted him to go into the spotlight but refused and went underground heroics. The family doesn't know his undercover look or name but he does return home often when he can. (He does not have the scars permanently. They are due to a quirk that changes his looks.) He started working out and got a lot stronger, he would sometimes sneak out with his friends and workout out with them. As said before his friends wasn't the nice bubbly kids you think he would have, in fact their not even close. Izuku changed from middle school and started drinking and smoking, he also tended to get in fights with random people for looking at him wrong. Clearly different from when he was growing up.
