I hear the longing in his voice and I force myself to look into his eyes. I see the livid pain in his eyes. I watch as he breaks in front of me. My heart feels like its being ripped from my chest. I raise my hand to comfort him, but then I remember, and I lower my hand. He saw what I had tried to do and groans. He pushes himself away from me so quickly I lose my balance. I see tears welling in his eyes as he reaches for the door. Please don't, I say. He doesn't turn around, but he stops and quietly utters, Why? His voice breaks. Why am I such a monster?
