A mission to Proteus, a minor moon of Neptune, turned to disaster and one crew member -- a brilliant exobiologist named Shin Ryujin -- was left behind, believed to be dead.

Now, evidence has surfaced that Ryujin may be alive. NASA calls on the same mission leader they blamed for the death to oversee the rescue: Captain Hwang Yeji. But Yeji has a precious secret.
