"Ash.  what's that?"

My eyes roved the spherical miracle dot on the supernova express flatscreen (aka the window). It kind of looked like some awful combination of rusted copper and bubblegum ice-cream had been splattered in a perfect ball on window. Gods I missed ice-cream, though I would rather eat the weird mush-mush bags we'd been shoving down our throats for the last 5 months than let my lips touch fucking bubblegum flavoured anything.

"That's a planet."

"No shit. Which planet mighty aerospace engineer?"

"You know this one. You watched Lost in Space 10 times."

The last 5 months on the ship had worn down my idea of life outside. Ash and I were a pair of mackerels bagged up in a metal tin-can and tossed into volcanic sludge. The idea of fresh air made my chest palpitate.

"Think we'll find Communist's?"

"I'm not steering this thing, but I think we're about to find out comrade."
