Until I felt nothing at all." Eira Gellert's world comes crumbling down as her sister is forced to leave for the army. Kael, raised in a hidden kitsune village, discovers his human heritage and the tragic fate of his mother, leading to his exile. He finds solace in Havenwood, a haven for other hybrids. When hunters threaten the village, Kael reveals his Kitsune powers, defending Havenwood but exposing his true nature. Despite initial fear, the villagers accept Kael, and together they strive to bridge the gap between their world and the human world. They offer aid and magic to the nearby village of Foxglove, fostering a fragile alliance. However, prejudice and fear still linger, leading to conflict and Kael's full transformation, revealing his Kitsune form. In the aftermath, Kael grapples with the consequences of his exposure, finding acceptance within Havenwood but fearing the repercussions from the outside world. The arrival of a delegation from the human kingdom adds to the tension, as they seek to understand the events and negotiate a peaceful resolution.
