An accident if you will say, a powerful strike missed and the earth was split in half by a sword, the atmosphere burned the oxygen and mortals died in droves, 25% of the mortals survived and those were the only ones with the potential to cultivate.

Behind the Dark
The breaking of worlds is much louder than one might think. While in all natural senses it is nearly silent; no birds flying about and singing their songs, no noises from the heavy traffic mere feet away from where I stand, no airplanes cutting seams into the otherwise-perfect blue sky, my ears ring with the deafening roar only I seem to hear. As if made of glass, the atmosphere shatters and rips apart, plunging me into a realm of ice-cold, pitch black darkness.
