Stella, who lives in a small town called Tarnvale in northern Scotland, has never thought that there is anything special about her. For some reason, her freedom is still restricted, she is not allowed to go anywhere except to school, otherwise she is not allowed to leave home. 

But there's only one place she's completely forbidden to go. After sneaking out again into the forest behind the building, now further, she meets a pack of boys. Definitely not normal ones.

However, when folktales aren't only tales anymore, she finds a new purpose for her life and a big secret about herself, her family's past and the world around her. According to that, she enters a whole new world.
