Remington knows very little of the world, kept within a basement for years by his Mentally ill father who he had grown attached to and loved dearly. But when a series of events result in him entering the new modern world, he's thrown in the secrets and betrayals of the family that abandoned him. 
Too innocent and too naïve for the world, Remi must navigate his family and understand the woman that abandoned him. Having to navigate two new brothers, a step father that he doesn't understand and a mother who wants to ignore everything around her. Contending with friendships, modern life and a world that he had never truly seen before, the wave of anxiety is building and the looming threats from the shadows. 
But Remi knew three things in his life: 
Love is pain 
Hatred was inevitable 
Everything was his fault.

Octaveus was depressed. He knew it, but no one else did. He hid it, just as he hid his scars. He wasn't human either; he hid that too. He hid almost everything about himself from everyone, in order to minimize the ridicule. His mental state, his thoughts, his scars, even his questionable sexuality. But that only fed into his sadness. Drew was insecure. He didn't like standing up for himself in fear of saying something wrong. He didn't even change in the main locker room for PE, he went in the stalls. He was anxious. He wanted to know what was happening and when so that he can prepare for all possible outcomes of that event. And he was gay; his family knew and supported him, but no one else knew. He was too scared of how they would react to tell them. Jessie knew his brother would be teased. It was really a fact. Humanity wasn't too good at accepting of different beings. No matter how human Octaveus made himself look, he couldn't hide his unnaturally pale skin that no matter how hard he tried would not tan or his yellow cat eyes.
