Bree Ritcher has had her entire adolescent life stolen by people she doesn't even know the true identity of. When she breaks free of a deranged asylum, she watches her only friend die and erupts a raging fire from her own body.

Each individual is unique and has a special power of their own, and each knows of this looming prophecy that has destined Bree's arrival into their world as the beginning and end of their world as they know it. Her journey begins with Chase Morgenstern and their friends, learning who each of them are and training with an elite class of only 12 students to become god-slaying warriors. Their academy, Shoreline, is to be protected but they come to find out demons are getting more bold and beginning to attack them.

Bree and her friends might be the only key to stop this looming darkness, but she alone might be the reason for chaos to erupt across their land.

The Houses that protected them are crumbling, falling into ruin as their members were culled down by angels and demons, as well as their own mad quest to save the world; the Pilgrimage, a vain attempt to steal into Eden and murder God himself. Soon, only the Scions will remain. Those that were left not due to merit, but because they were the last choice for being heroes. Those whose memories and minds are as damaged and eaten through as their world. Those who agreed to take on the mysterious Archons within their bodies and, through that contract, had ancient relics and rituals passed down to them. They converge onto a long forgotten neutral ground, trying to save themselves. A heroic journey through a nightmarish wonderland. A pilgrimage to God's tower, to make the world whole again.
