(Note: I do not own anything related to Mass Effect or the Artwork shown. This is merely a fanfiction to keep the story going. Furthermore this is not a sequel to After the Smoke Falls, but more of a different version of what I believe should be the conclusion of Shepard's story.)

It was over. The Reapers were destroyed, but at a cost. Billions of lives were lost, Almost all Synthetic Life was wiped out, The Mass Relay's were damaged or destroyed. But in the destruction a new enemy rears its head.

Hydra.

A group of mercenaries, convicts, even remnants of the Pro-Human group Cerberus with the singular goal of domination in this war torn galaxy. Old faces return, along with new ones. Sides will be taken. But the Galaxy was not prepared for this . . . .

Earth has Fallen, it's as simple as it states. Ten years prior, They came. The Tephra, came to Earth intending to take over the life baring Planet. A humanoid species more advanced in weaponry, skills and knowledge than the Human race; looked to make it their home. Countries leaders refused to allow such a thing to happen and war soon ensued. Countless lives wasted to the attack when peace and coexistence could have been an option. Human's, losing, resorted to no other option then chemical warfare. Lieth was born in Scottland and migrated to America as a child when she was ten years old, Ten years before the invasion. She was now 30yrs old. The chemical used in the war completely altered her genetic makeup. She stopped growing upon becoming infected and the effects were permanent. The chemical also caused her hair roots to stain a deep green hue giving her a more inhuman hair color. Her eyes defined her the most. They were a brilliant shade of Ember, like flames in a fire. Kaija was Heir to his Father's Reine. The Tephra were a very tall, fit, Agile and fast, clearly built for hunting. They also stopped aging once they hit adult-hood. Dying only due to sickness, accidents or being slain. Kai's hope was to hopefully unite both races, by force if needed. Kai had long white hair that went past his hips. His skin was a tannish cream tone, a scar over his left eye. He had an agile black tail that was adorned in gold armor. Long pointed elf-like ears. He wore black armor with gold trimming that was protective against attacks of any kind, but was very light making it easy for him to move around. Armored boots adorned with climbing spikes and gloves that exposed his razor-sharp claws. The most distinctive feature of all was the golden skill mask he wore that shown is crystalline blue hues. Giving the illusion that his irises were made of the bluest ice. //WARNING Will contain smut and such// !!!SHORT STORY!!!! Old from computer.

Galactic Upheaval: Rise of the Republic

5 parts Ongoing Mature

When explorers on Mars found the Prothean Archives, they discovered that they were being eradicated. The various human governments were terrified. An empire that appeared to have spanned the entire galaxy was slaughtered and their attackers were apparently still alive 50,000 years later. They had to build a fleet to protect themselves but how? In 2055, thanks to a team of privately funded researchers and engineers, the first hyperdrive core was designed and implemented and for decades the new Republic expanded, building on and developing every world it claimed, creating hundreds of agricultural worlds that provide food and water to the people of the Republic, industrial worlds that provide various materials and products to the planets under their banner. Resort worlds provide rest and relaxation for the weary. Humanity, it seems, has finally found peace. But like the Romans said: Sí vis pacem parabellum. If you want peace, prepare for war. And 500 years after the archives were discovered it seems war would find humanity once more.
