Clay is a 21-year-old senior in law school. All his life, he was told what he could and couldn't do. His life had already been decided for him since the age of 5. He never had a girlfriend, never fell in love, and never had any real friends. Music was his only friend. It was the only way he knew how to express his emotions. But his parents never let me pursue that passion. And so, on the day of his last exam, he changed his life. That night, he escaped.

Months later, when she learns about his diagnosis, Evie returns the favor in the only way that makes sense: by marrying him. It's meant to be just on paper. She's merely helping him out financially through her mom's health insurance plan. Neither of them expects this simple favor to come with growing worry that turns into a reluctant friendship, which then spirals completely out of control before either can stop it.
