There is no time limit when it comes to grieving, and Esmeralda Delgado started to learn this after her dad passed away two years ago.
Two years ago, her brother and his best friend, Archer, moved away to attend college. Nobody knew that Archer and Esmeralda were in a relationship and had to break things off. But when her mom is getting remarried, the two boys decide to fly down to attend the wedding.
Esmeralda soon realizes they no longer fit into her new life and wants them gone. Having them around feels overwhelming and brings back memories of her old life with her dad.
Esmeralda soon realizes that she hasn't entirely accepted her dad's death. Archer notices this and wants to help her, but she doesn't allow him to. She is scared that the feelings she swore were gone will start to resurface, and once they become closer, she won't be able to deny them.
Archer is her brother's best friend, and she knows it would be a hard pill to swallow if she were to get together with him. This is why they never told anyone about their feelings two years ago. No matter how much she tries to deny it, she knows Archer isn't hers to love.
