David has had a lifetime of disappointments served up to him. From an absentee parent to troubled relationships and connections to criminals through no efforts of his own, he has had to fight and observe to stay safe from people for years. At only 19, he hears how little of life he has experienced by those who don't know and feels an annoying amount of pity and misunderstanding by those who do know but still lack the ability to understand how he feels and gets by.
Used to handling matters alone when needed and reaching out to the few he can when he can has been a lifelong habit that he has had little issue with continuing. Unfortunately for him, his first real job a local retail store is about to make that habit his greatest weakness and remove from him the only things that matter to him, his family, friends, and the self reliance that kept him going even when alone. Now, he can't afford to think that way. Because his first job is a real killer and the icing on it all is the drugs, sex, and power sitting in the middle of it all.
