Cruise Control

So, Zara's fresh out of a breakup, right? It's been four months, and while it stung like heck, she's finally come to terms with it. She's all about that single life now, feeling liberated and whatnot. But here's the kicker: there's this romantic cruise she and her ex snagged tickets for ages ago, back when they were all lovey-dovey. Now, with the relationship sunk, there's just this one last hurdle in her quest for total freedom - that darn cruise.

Now, these tickets are non-refundable, a real kick in the gut. So, being the mature adults they are, Zara and her ex agree to bite the bullet and go as buddies. I mean, who'd want to waste a $10k holiday, right? But just when she's bracing herself for a week of awkward small talk and buffet dinners, her ex pulls a no-show. Instead, standing there with that annoyingly hot scowl on his face is Zach - her ex's best friend and a detective on forced vacation because of some messy case.

Now, here's where things get interesting. Zach's been secretly crushing on Zara for eight whole years, unbeknownst to her. And when he catches wind that his buddy's bailing, leaving Zara high and dry, he swoops in and buys his own ticket, deciding to play knight-in-shining-armor on the cruise. I mean, he figures, with all the mystery novels he's read, cruises can be pretty sketchy places, right?
