Evelyn is on the run for her crazy ex, Jacob. He was using her, and threathened to hurt her and her family, if she did something he didn't like. She leaves her family behind for their own safety, and moves away. While she's desperately trying to get away from memories, guilt, the powers she was gifted with at birth, and of course, Jacob, she meets someone who brings a bit of sunlight into her life.
